Cyprus has a longstanding international accounting, auditing, legal and financial services sector. Its law draws substantially from English common-law traditions within the EU legal framework, which can be familiar to overseas buyers and business owners.
From 2026, the standard corporate income tax rate is 15% (previously 12.5%). The same reform reduced Special Defence Contribution on qualifying dividends from 17% to 5% for Cyprus tax-resident and domiciled individuals, while transitional treatment of earlier profits and the non-domiciled exemption remain important. Cyprus also has a network of double-taxation agreements with more than 65 countries and jurisdictions worldwide, which may help qualifying taxpayers manage cross-border taxation. The actual treatment depends on the person, company and applicable treaty. A residential purchase does not confer work rights, corporate establishment, tax residency or automatic tax benefits.
